This weekends Premier League action is just around the corner and the match officials for Chelsea vs Brighton have been revealed as Chelsea desperately look to bounce back from Saturday’s disappointment.

With Chelsea walking a tightrope in terms of discipline this weekends appointment could prove key especially when preparing to Manchester United next week.

Brighton recently experienced Anthony Taylor so the good news is he won’t be in the middle on Sunday but the VAR ref this weekend at Stamford Bridge will be bad news for Chelsea fans.

The referee for Chelsea vs Brighton is Craig Pawson with his assistants being Marc Perry and Steve Meredith. Pawson has yet to referee Chelsea in the 23/24 season, the same applies with Brighton. Pawson has yet to referee Chelsea since the West Ham game back in January where he controversially did not award the blues a penalty for a hand ball on Tomáš Souček.

The VAR referee has been a familiar name at Stamford Bridge so far this season, Jarred Gillett once again returns to the scene, taking control for a second time in three matches. Gillett was the VAR referee for Chelsea vs Arsenal where he recommended a penalty for a handball on Saliba but in more controversial circumstances, he was also the VAR referee for Chelsea vs Man City where he cleared Cucurella’s alleged foul on Haaland.

Perhaps the worst incident has been saved until last where Gillett was the referee who sent off Malo Gusto for a dangerous tackle against Aston Villa a few months ago in fact the audio from this match got released with all officials doubling down on it.
